Why $99?

Grant Rocket is built for a process where small mistakes can delay or jeopardize thousands of dollars in funding.

This is not casual software — it is structured protection.

“I recently went through the My Safe Florida Home Grant process myself — and honestly, it was far more confusing and stressful than it should have been. There were too many steps, unclear requirements, and constant uncertainty about whether I was doing everything correctly.

That experience is exactly why my team and I built GrantRocket.

GrantRocket made the entire process finally feel manageable. Instead of guessing which documents were needed or worrying about missing something important, everything was clearly organized in one place. I always knew exactly what step to take next.

Most importantly, it gave me confidence — confidence that my application was complete, accurate, and moving forward the right way.”

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the My Safe Florida Home Grant?

The My Safe Florida Home Grant is a Florida state program that helps homeowners strengthen their homes against storms by providing funding for approved improvements such as roof upgrades, opening protection, and structural reinforcements. GrantRocket helps you organize and submit the required documentation so you can move through the process smoothly and confidently.

How does GrantRocket help with my application?

GrantRocket provides a secure, structured platform that keeps all of your inspection reports, contractor estimates, photos, and required forms organized in one place. You always know what’s complete, what’s missing, and what to do next—eliminating confusion, delays, and costly mistakes.

Do I still apply through the state program?

Yes. GrantRocket does not replace the official My Safe Florida Home Grant application. Instead, it helps you prepare everything correctly so when you submit through the official program, your documents are complete, organized, and ready for approval.

What documents will I need?

Most homeowners will need items such as inspection reports, contractor estimates, proof of ownership, and photos. GrantRocket guides you step-by-step and provides a clear checklist so nothing is overlooked.

Is my information secure?

Yes. GrantRocket uses secure storage and structured organization so your documents remain private, protected, and accessible only to you.

How long does the process take?

Timelines vary depending on the program and your individual situation, but GrantRocket helps ensure your documents are complete and properly organized—helping you avoid delays caused by missing or incorrect information.

Phase 1: Prioritization Questionnaire

What is the Prioritization Questionnaire?

It is the first step in the My Safe Florida Home process. You answer simple questions about your household size, income, and whether anyone in your home is age 60 or older. Your answers determine your place in line for the free inspection and grant.

How does household income and age affect my priority?

Lower-income households and households with someone age 60+ get higher priority. The program groups applicants into five priority levels so the neediest families are helped first.

Do I have to choose “Low-Income” or “Matched” when applying for the My Safe Florida Home grant?

No — you don’t choose your category.

The My Safe Florida Home program automatically determines whether you qualify as Low-Income or Matched (Moderate-Income) based on your total household income compared to your county’s median income.

Low-Income: Your household income is at or below 80% of the median income for your county (adjusted for household size). You can receive up to $10,000 with no matching funds required.

Matched Grant: Your income is typically above 80% but at or below 120% of the county median. The state matches $2 for every $1 you spend (up to $10,000 from the state).

The state makes the final decision during the official review using your verified income documents (tax returns, etc.). We ask for your best guess in the app so we can give you the most accurate guidance and expectations upfront.

It is based on your total household income from IRS Form 1040 Line 11. If you qualify, you may receive a full grant (up to $10,000) with no matching payment required.

How to check your likely category right now:

Go to the official HUD income limits tool: https://www.huduser.gov/portal/datasets/il.html

Select Florida your county current year (2025 or 2026 limits).

Look at the “80% of Median” column for your household size.

The program uses HUD data and counts wages, Social Security, pensions, etc., with some adjustments.

Phase 2: Inspection Phase

How do I schedule my free state inspection?

After you complete the Prioritization Questionnaire and are approved, you will receive instructions in the official portal to schedule the free wind-mitigation inspection.

What is the difference between the free inspection and the grant money?

The free inspection tells you exactly which of the four eligible improvements your home needs. The grant money is the cash you receive to pay for those improvements after they are completed and verified.

Why must the Final Inspection be done by the official MSFH inspector?

Only the official My Safe Florida Home inspector’s report is accepted by the state and by most insurance companies for the insurance endorsement. County building department certificates will be rejected and can cause weeks of delay.

How long is my inspection report valid?

The inspection report is valid for 24 months. You must complete the recommended improvements and request the Final Inspection within that window.

Phase 3: Grant Application Phase

Do I have to hire a contractor before I apply for the grant?

Yes. You must select a licensed contractor and confirm the improvements they will perform before the state approves your grant application.

What does the perjury statement mean?

By checking the box you are legally affirming that all information you provide is true and complete. False statements can result in denial of the grant and possible legal action.

Phase 4: Draw Request Phase

When can I request the Final Inspection and Draw Request?

Only after the recommended improvements are fully completed and you have received the official Final Inspection Report from the MSFH inspector.

How do I request a final inspection?

To request your final inspection, you’ll need to upload documentation that clearly shows the work completed on your home.

It is your responsibility to ensure the contractor’s document includes a detailed and accurate scope of work. If the description is vague or does not match the approved improvements, your Draw Request may be delayed or denied.

Acceptable documents (submit one):

  • Original contractor’s quote
  • Contractor’s invoice
  • Original construction contract

Your document must include:

  • A detailed scope of work, such as:
    • “Installed impact-rated windows on all 12 openings on the front, back, and sides of the house”
    • “Added roof-to-wall clips to every truss and rafter”
    • “Applied full secondary water resistance (peel-and-stick underlayment) to the entire roof deck”
  • The start date and completion date of the work

Providing clear, detailed documentation helps ensure your final inspection is approved without delays.

What is proof of payment and who needs it?

Most applicants must upload paid invoices showing the work is complete and paid in full. Low-income grant recipients are exempt from this requirement.

What do I need to request from my insurance company after my final inspection?

After your final inspection is completed, you must contact your insurance company and request an updated Declaration of Insurance (often called a “new declarations page”).

To do this, send your insurer the official Final Wind Mitigation Report provided by the My Safe Florida Home program.

What to say to your insurance company:

You can simply explain:

“I’ve completed improvements through the My Safe Florida Home program and need an updated declarations page based on my final wind mitigation report.”

What your insurance company will do:

  • Review your final wind mitigation report
  • Apply any eligible discounts or adjustments
  • Issue a new Declaration of Insurance reflecting those changes

Providing this updated declaration is a required step for your grant reimbursement, so be sure to request it promptly after receiving your final report.

How long does it take to receive the grant payment?

Once the Final Inspection Report and all required documents are approved, payment is usually issued within a few weeks.

What happens if I miss the 60-day RFI deadline?

The state gives you exactly 60 days to respond to any request for more information. If you miss the deadline, your application may be withdrawn and you will have to start over.
