Before we begin, please review these official excerpts from the My Safe Florida Home Homeowner’s Guide (2025–2026). Checking each box confirms you have read and understand the material.

Homeowner’s Guide (2025–2026)
The My Safe Florida Home Program is a state-funded program that provides free wind mitigation inspections and grants to eligible Florida homeowners to harden their homes against hurricane damage. The program is administered by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and is funded by the state of Florida.
Improvements Guide
Only Improvements that are recommended in the Initial Inspection Report and observed in the Final Inspection Report are eligible for Grant Disbursement. The four eligible improvements are: 1.0 Opening Protection (impact windows, doors, shutters), 2.0 Roof-to-Wall Connection, 3.0 Roof Deck Attachment, and 4.0 Secondary Water Resistance.
Perjury & Electronic Signature Statements
By submitting this application, I affirm under penalty of perjury that all information provided is true and correct to the best of my knowledge. Any false statements may result in denial of the grant and possible legal action.
60-Day RFI Rules
If the Program requires additional information or documentation, you have exactly 60 days from the date of the request to respond. Failure to respond within 60 days may result in your application being withdrawn.
Final Inspection Timing & Rules
Once the Recommended Improvements are completed, Applicants will need to request a Final Inspection to initiate the Draw Request process. The Final Inspection is the concluding Hurricane Mitigation Inspection. Only the official My Safe Florida Home inspector’s Final Inspection Report counts. County building department certificates will NOT be accepted.
Insurance Endorsement Rules
The Final Inspection Report must be sent to your insurance company after the MSFH inspector completes it. The updated insurance declarations page must show the approved improvements and be dated after that inspection.
Household Income & Member Rules
All household members and their income must be reported accurately based on IRS Form 1040 Line 11. Household income is used to determine eligibility and grant type (low-income or matching).
Homestead & Property Eligibility Rules
The home must be site-built and owner-occupied. The Applicant must have been granted a homestead exemption on the home under chapter 196, F.S. The Program will verify the status of your homestead exemption and the type of home you have.
Contractor Licensing & Payment Proof Rules
Contractors must be properly licensed. Low-income applicants are exempt from proof-of-payment, but all others must provide full paid invoices.

What the My Safe Florida Home Grant Is All About

A simple, no-nonsense explanation of the program that can help you save thousands of dollars on hurricane-hardening upgrades.

The My Safe Florida Home Grant is a free state program that helps Florida homeowners make their houses stronger against hurricanes.

You get: • A free wind-mitigation inspection of your home • Cash grants to pay for specific hurricane-hardening improvements

The grant only pays for four proven upgrades that protect your roof, windows, and walls from high winds and rain. It does not cover general repairs, cosmetic work, or anything outside those four items.

What the Grant Covers

Opening Protection

Impact windows, impact doors, or hurricane shutters that stop flying debris from breaking glass.

Roof Deck Attachment

Stronger nails or clips that keep your roof deck from lifting off in high winds.

Secondary Water Resistance

Special underlayment or sealant under your shingles that stops water from leaking inside even if shingles are damaged.

Roof-to-Wall Connection

Metal straps that tie your roof securely to the walls so the whole house stays together in a storm.

What the Grant Does NOT Cover

This grant is only for the four hurricane-hardening improvements listed above. It does not pay for:

• General roof replacement

• Cosmetic upgrades or landscaping

• Repairs from past storms (unless they are part of the approved hardening work)

• Anything not specifically recommended in your official MSFH inspection report

Low-Income vs. Matching Grant
